Lab Safety
At TCWP, we have a BSL- 2 (Biological Safety Level 2) lab that allows us to test for various pathogens in common vectors, including mosquitoes within 24-48 hours of collection for West Nile Virus and ticks for Colorado Tick Fever Virus (CTFV), and more. As the workload on our lab and team increases, so do the hazards. We’re proud of the safety protocols we have in place that protect our team and the community. Let’s Celebrate Native Plant Month (April 2025)
All year long, we give you tips and tricks to fight the weeds and pests that bug us. But what about the native plants? The Indian paintbrush, western coneflower, rocky mountain maple, and so many more. There are over 1,200+ native plant species in Teton County, each working in perfect harmony as a vital part of our ecosystem. This month, we’re highlighting a handful of native plants and their contributions to our environment.
Welcome to NISAW 2025
National Invasive Species Awareness Week (NISAW) is an annual event organized by the North American Invasive Species Management Association (NAISMA) as an international initiative that aims to raise awareness about the urgent issue of invasive species and the threats they pose to ecosystems worldwide. This year, the event takes place from February 24 to 28th, 2025. Join TCWP on social media as we leverage this opportunity to educate and mitigate the spread of invasive species.

October is Firewood Month! Did you know every person who uses the Bridger-Teton National Forest plays a vital role in protecting the forest land we all love? Enjoying a campfire at the conclusion of a day’s activities could bring some unintended consequences. Invasive and destructive pests can be transported inside of firewood that is brought in from out of the area.

Fall is here but there is still time for a few last glorious outings on the water! Water recreation and sports are a highlight of living in the Jackson Hole region. Whether it be lazy summer days spent paddling at String Lake or having a picnic at scenic overlooks around Jackson Lake all season, water sports make mountain living a dream. Hiking in the fall in the Grand Tetons is the breath of fresh air all of the locals have been waiting for after another frenzy of tourist season. Summer is right around the corner and so are some of our favorite outdoor activities. Whether you’re a long-time local, snowbird, newcomer, or tourist, Jackson offers some of the best mountain adventures. With these activities (like hiking or biking) comes the responsibility to sustain them for years to come. We want our children and our children’s children to hike the same trails and see the same sights that we will this summer. Unfortunately, some of our invasive plants that threaten our ecosystem have spread through recreation.
