Teton County Weed and Pest District (TCWP) is pleased to announce the launch of
the Wyoming Tick Data Dashboard.

‍
With limited scientific information available about ticks and tick-borne diseases in Wyoming, TCWP conducted a pilot study in 2023 to gather data and evaluate surveillance methods before formally launching a tick surveillance program in 2024. What began as a county program quickly grew as people throughout Wyoming expressed interest in participating. Through citizen science and collaboration with partner organizations, TCWP expanded tick collection across the state, with additional funding from the Wyoming Mosquito and Vector Management Association.

Weed and Pest districts, mosquito control districts, citizen scientists, state and county entities, veterinarians, schools, and members of the public contributed specimens and collection data. TCWP manages the program logistics, develops and implements surveillance methods, identifies tick specimens, conducts PCR testing, and analyzes and shares the data.

This dashboard represents years of work by TCWP staff and seasonal crew members, made stronger by the many people who have helped collect specimens throughout the state. TCWP Entomologist Mikenna Smith developed the pilot study and surveillance program design, while TCWP Biologist Kelsey Mitchell refined and conducted pathogen testing. Smith and Jaea Ledgerwood, 2026 RaHP Vec intern, worked together to develop the public dashboard, transforming surveillance and testing data into an accessible resource. Special thanks to Ledgerwood for her contributions to bringing Wyoming’s tick data to the public.

‍
The Wyoming Tick Data Dashboard brings these findings together for the public, healthcare practitioners, students, and anyone interested in learning more about Wyoming’s ticks and tick-borne diseases, and it may be used to see a quick snapshot or to explore the data in more depth. TCWP will continue to improve the dashboard as the program grows and more data is collected.
